At Ergonomics USA, we understand that not every testing application can be met with an off-the-shelf probe. That’s why, in addition to our extensive catalog of standard test probes, we also offer the possibility of custom-manufactured probes to meet unique requirements.
With a fully equipped precision machine shop on-site, our team has the capability to design and produce specialized probes, test plugs, and accessibility devices that align with various testing standards, including IEC, UL, CSA, and others.
When a Custom Probe May Be Needed
Sometimes, a testing standard specifies a probe or device that isn’t readily available from existing suppliers—or your testing needs may require a slight modification to a current design. Examples include:
- Probes built to an unpublished or proprietary standard
- Modifications of existing designs to meet alternate standard revisions
- Custom accessibility or reach probes for specialized safety testing
- Test plugs or adapters with specific geometries or dimensions
How to Begin
If you require a custom probe, please provide:
- The applicable testing standard (IEC, UL, CSA, etc.)
- The exact verbiage from the standard describing the probe or device
- Any figures, diagrams, or measurement callouts (including tolerances)
This information allows us to evaluate the feasibility of the design and determine whether it falls within our manufacturing capabilities.
Important Note
While we aim to accommodate custom requests whenever possible, we cannot guarantee that every design can be produced. Each request is evaluated based on:
- The specifications and tolerances required
- The complexity of the design
- The current workload in our machine shop
If the design is feasible, we will provide a quotation and estimated lead time for review prior to starting any work.
