JOINTED FINGER PROBE, JFP10

Jointed Finger Probe, JFP10, has been redesigned to do the work of the former JFP10 and the JFP15. The new JFP10 has a handle that will accept either a banana jack (for continuity testing) or a force gauge. See JFP10 in the Access Probes section.

COMBINOVA POWER LINE REFERENCE IMPEDANCE NETWORK

Combinova Power Line Reference Impedance Network creates the power environment as required to make measurements to the revised flicker standard. The impedance network is in accordance with IEC 61000-3-11, Figure 1.

2-JOULE SINGLE ENERGY IMPACT HAMMER
Model SIH200 Model SIH200 Single Energy Impact Hammer - 2Nm (Joules)
Designed to perform impact tests for product durability. Simulates mechanical impact to electronic products and electrical appliances.
Data Sheet

The IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) has changed the requirements for impact devices and hammers. The changes became effective beginning 1 January 2003. Last year we announced the changes to all our customers with products below 1 Nm energies. The changes also affected other energy levels and this is the subject of this new announcement.

Ergonomics, Inc. has introduced a new impact hammer - the 2-Joule (Nm), the Model SIH200. Energies above 2 Joules are produced with pendulums and heavy weights attached to the ends. The complete line of impact energy apparatuses are available from Ergonomics, Inc. This means we can supply energies from 0.14 to 50 Joules in accordance with IEC60068-2-75.

None of the present spring-loaded hammers from any manufacturer will meet the 2-Joule (Nm) requirement. The striking element size, shape, material and weight are all different from present impact hammer striking elements. The striking element for the 2 joule model is all steel with a special radius on the tip and it weighs 500 grams.

Other changes in the IEC60068-2-75 standard are the elimination of the 0.3 and 0.4 Joule energies. This leaves 0.14, 0.2, 0.35, 0.5 0.7 and 1.0 Joules versions. The Ergonomics, Inc. universal hammer (UIH20) will produce these energies all in one unit. Of course, single energy versions can be purchased when only one energy level is needed. The model number is SIH10 with the desired energy specified.

LATEST STANDARDS FOR COMBINOVA ANALYZER 300

Amendment 14 to EN61000-3-2 was published in the Official Journal on December 14, 2001. With the publication of Amendment 14, comes an easing of the testing requirements as compared with the published standard. Two key changes are noted:

  • there are no limits for equipment operating under 75W and,
  • there are no limits for industrial or professional equipment over 1000W. The test methodology has also changed with respect to fluctuating loads.

Combinova offers a turnkey solution to testing to both the EN61000-3-2 standard and Amendment 14. The software for the stand alone Power Analyzer 300 as well as for the Compliance Test Software Package (for PC based applications), offers a seamless solution for meeting your testing needs. Call our sales department for product information or to arrange a demonstration. (Get Analyzer details...)
